What needed solving
The consultancy's training ran in person, in several languages and in one-day, two-day and five-day formats. Taking it online meant every course existed many times over, once for each language and format.
Building each version by hand would have been slow and inconsistent. Learners also needed to enrol, pay, complete assessments and receive certificates without the consultancy doing admin for every person.
How we did it
How we approached the work, step by step.
A complete learning platform
We built the academy with online payment, learner dashboards, assessments and automatic certificates.
A repeatable course package
We defined one standard package for every course, so any course in any language or format loads consistently instead of being built screen by screen.
Five languages
Courses run in English, isiZulu, Afrikaans, French and Portuguese, with machine-translated drafts going through native-speaker review before release.
Interactive learning
We added a self-assessment tool inside lessons that scores each learner and shows their results instantly.
Room to grow
Content from partner organisations is added through the same process under ongoing maintenance.
What the business has now
The academy is live, with courses in English, isiZulu, Afrikaans, French and Portuguese across three formats and native-speaker review under way on the translated versions. Enrolment, payment, assessment and certificates run on the platform, and each new course or language version loads from the same package.
Five languages and three formats means up to fifteen versions of a single course. With one fixed course package, a new isiZulu or Portuguese version is loaded and checked against the package, not built from scratch.
Questions, answered
Can one learning platform deliver the same course in several languages?
Yes. Each language version runs as its own course on the same platform, sharing the same structure, assessments and certification, so learners get a consistent experience in their own language.
What does a WordPress learning platform need to sell courses in South Africa?
A learning management plugin for lessons and assessments, WooCommerce for enrolment and orders, a local payment gateway such as PayFast, and automatic certificates on completion.
How are new courses added to an online training platform?
Through a standard course package. Each new course or language version is prepared in the same format and imported, which keeps quality consistent; on this platform we load partner content as part of ongoing maintenance.
Which payment gateways can a South African online academy use?
Local gateways such as PayFast, Ozow and Yoco all integrate with WooCommerce, giving learners card and instant EFT options in rand, with payment confirming the enrolment automatically.
Can an online training platform issue certificates automatically?
Yes. The learning platform issues a certificate once a learner completes the required lessons and assessments, with their name, the course and the date, ready to download from their dashboard.
