Effective Date: 14/08/2026
An Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) sets out the rules that apply when you use a website, or when you use hosting, email, or other digital services provided by a business. It exists to protect the security, performance, and reputation of the systems involved, and to make clear what is and is not permitted.
Acceptable Use Policy
Wired Web Services (Pty) Ltd (“Wired Web Services”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) provides this Acceptable Use Policy to set out the standards you agree to when using our website, and when using any hosting, email, domain, or website management service supplied by us.
Please read this policy carefully. By accessing our website, or by using any service provided by Wired Web Services, you agree to comply with this AUP. If you do not agree with these terms, you should not use our website or our services.
This Acceptable Use Policy may be updated from time to time. We encourage you to review it periodically to stay informed of any changes.
1. Scope of This Policy
This policy applies to:
-Anyone who visits or uses the wiredwebservices.co.za website
-Any client, contractor, or third party using hosting, email, domain, or website management services provided by Wired Web Services
-Any content, code, files, or data uploaded to, stored on, or transmitted through infrastructure we manage on your behalf
2. Acceptable Use of Our Website
Our website may only be used for lawful purposes. When using our website, you agree not to:
-Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of our website, systems, or networks
-Scrape, harvest, or extract data from our website using automated tools without our written permission
-Interfere with or disrupt the normal operation of our website
-Submit false, misleading, or fraudulent information through any form on our website
3. Acceptable Use of Hosting, Email and Website Services
Where Wired Web Services provides hosting, email, domain, or website management services to a client, the following applies in addition to the rest of this policy. You agree not to:
-Use hosted resources to send unsolicited bulk email (spam), or to engage in email address harvesting
-Upload, host, or distribute malware, viruses, ransomware, or other malicious code
-Use shared hosting resources in a way that degrades performance for other clients on the same infrastructure, including excessive CPU or memory usage, or cryptocurrency mining
-Host, link to, or distribute phishing pages, fraudulent schemes, or content designed to deceive users
-Attempt to circumvent security measures we have put in place, including firewalls, malware scanning, and backup systems
Where responsibility for keeping a website’s core software, plugins, and themes updated has been agreed to sit with the client rather than with us, the client remains responsible for maintaining reasonably secure passwords and applying the updates we recommend.
4. Prohibited Content and Activities
Regardless of whether content relates to our website or to a hosted client website, the following is prohibited:
-Content that is unlawful, defamatory, harassing, hateful, obscene, or that infringes the rights of any third party
-Content that infringes copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property rights
-Any activity that violates South African law, including but not limited to the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act (ECT Act), and the Cybercrimes Act
-Any attempt to gain unauthorised access to systems, networks, or data belonging to Wired Web Services, our clients, or third parties
-Use of any system we manage to launch denial-of-service attacks, port scanning, or other network abuse directed at other systems
5. Security and Your Responsibilities
If you hold login credentials for a website, hosting account, or email account that we manage, you are responsible for keeping those credentials secure and for reporting any suspected compromise to us promptly. Where a security threat is identified on a hosted website or account, we reserve the right to take that website or service offline temporarily to protect the integrity of our infrastructure and other clients hosted on shared systems, and will notify you as soon as reasonably possible when we do so.
6. Enforcement, Suspension and Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access to our website or services, without prior notice where necessary, if we reasonably believe this policy has been breached. Where immediate action is not required to prevent harm, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you and address the issue before taking further action. Repeated or serious breaches of this policy may result in the termination of services, in accordance with the applicable terms of service or agreement in place between you and Wired Web Services.
7. Reporting a Violation
If you become aware of a violation of this policy, whether relating to our website or to a website or service we host or manage, please report it to us at info@wiredwebservices.co.za with as much detail as possible. We investigate all reports of abuse and take appropriate action.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Acceptable Use Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our services, technology, or legal obligations. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
